My John Lewis package arrived today, it was quite an exciting process, they use DPD to deliver their goods and you have access to a service that lets you track your parcel from departing the depot, through its journey around in the van as all the other parcels are being delivered. You are given quite a precise time slot as to when it will be your turn. This all builds up the arrival of your order.

The box has clear instructions on how to open on the front, however I didn’t read these at first because they are particularly obvious, most people would probably consider themselves knowledgable on how to open a box.IMG_7194IMG_7190

Current packaging system consists of a box that is pretty much single entity. With the outer layer being attached to the inner layer box, still giving the product protection but cutting down on space and resources used.

The product inside was protected by a plastic sleeve.

The box has simple visuals, consisting of the John Lewis branding, and information on how the packaging has been made – from recycled materials. As well as suggestions for disposal, again by recycling the box.

The inside could be more decorative, there could be instructions on disposal/reuse of old items, Suggestions on what other customers also brought, the box could have potential to be used for something else using origami like techniques.
